Acoustics - Bass Traps

Updated: Dec 21, 2020

Bass traps are generally designed for the corners and tri-corners of a room as bass has a tendency to build up in these areas. Bass traps are typically applied to the front end of the room behind the monitors. Bass traps can be trapezoid shape, nailed to the corner of a room, they can be cylindrical shape standing just off the corners on the ground, or they can be installed along the parallel side walls of the studio setup. In any case, the room in which your system belongs should be professionally tested to verify the problem frequencies of that room and where potential build ups of standing waves occur.
